Synopsis

Two opportunistic thieves plot to steal the Sword of Truth by using magic to disguise themselves as Richard and Kahlan. Meanwhile, the real Richard must battle a lethal Mord' Sith in order to free himself and Kahlan from the evil clutches of Darken Rahl's brutal D'Haran soldiers.

Review by Tracy Casebere

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fakest Seeker of them all? Um. I think this is the Legend of the Seeker. But then what is Richard doing frolicking in the hay with some random, and why does it feel so... fake?

I mean they look the same and they sort of sound the same... but they're not the same. A few minutes of scratching your head later and it all becomes clear. It's all down to magic. Of course it is.

It turns out that two numpties (that's people to you and me) have been very busy indeed, impersonating Kahlan and Richard using magic (a magical mirror no less, hence the name of the episode) and have been reaping all the benefits (and negatives) that goes along with it. Let's just say it provides some highly comical moments. It's like watching Kahlan and Richard turn into the ultimate caricatures of themselves.

The two numpties in question happen to be thieves, and seeing a chance to grab the Sword of Truth for themselves, they do so using the oldest trick in the book - SEX! Well, naked bathing at any rate. What ensues is a lot of cloak and dagger style scenarios. No one really knows what's going on, or who is who but it's all part of the fun. The fake Richard and fake Kahlan end up getting caught by Rahl's soldiers, then they manage to escape as fake Richard becomes eye candy for one of the soldiers, (don't ask - but knowing Craig Horner is the one acting this all out is priceless) AND finally they end up getting caught again - by Zedd no less. It's good to see him back (even if he is angry at finding imposters upon his return.)

Despite this episode being completely irrelevant to main the plot of the series, it provides some very amusing scenes between the main three characters. Zedd in particular when he's playing the role of "Bianca" - and wails pathetically at his/her husband, declaring his/her undying love.

This episode has an almost pantomime show feel about it; slapstick, yet not overly so in the way you can't bear to watch. It's almost as if the trio are taking a bit of time out from hunting Darken Rahl and are going on a little detour for their amusement, or sanity, I haven't quite decided which yet. Whatever the reason for this episode, it's a bloody good one. I found myself laughing at the best of times, even when I knew what was coming round the corner.
