Kahlan Amnell

Kahlan Amnell is the youngest Mother Confessor to have ruled over the Midlands but in comparrasion, she is also the most powerful and is now the last Confessor in the world. She is described as having long, lush brown hair and eyebrows that have the graceful arch of a raptor’s wings in flight. She is tall, almost as tall as Richard and her green eyes flare with intelligence. Kahlan typically wears her Mother Confessor’s dress, plain white fabric which is fine and smooth, almost glistening and is square cut at the neck; a brown leather pouch sits at her waist. She is younger than Richard but of similar of age.
Richard first encounters Kahlan in the Ven Forest where he spies four men following her. They are later revealed to be a quad sent by Darken Rahl to eliminate Kahlan.
For the majority of the first book, Wizard’s first rule, Richard is unaware of Kahlan’s power and status. She tells Richard that apart from her recently deceased sister Dennee, he is her first ever friend. In fact, up until she and Richard met, her social life had been a lonely affair. Her status as Mother Confessor alienated those around her and even Kahlan’s half sister, Queen Cyrilla was jealous of her.
Kahlan is strong willed, fierce, loyal and witty. She is highly intelligent, often being described as beautiful and to being Richard’s equal in every sense.
