WFR: Creatures
Blood flyA blood fly is tiny flying insect always found around Gars. Their bites are very painful and often draw blood from their victim. They live in unison with Gars and are used to hunt for prey.
Gar
A Gar is a rather large and aggressive predatorily beast originally from D'Hara. They stand on 2 feet like a man and the smaller of the 2 varieties the Long-tailed Gars weigh about 3 times more than a man. Short-tailed Gars are bigger and smarter than their Long-tailed cousins.
Fur covers its entire body apart from their chest and stomach, which are covered in a smooth pinkish skin exposing their corded muscles. Gars posses glowing green eyes, short and rounded ears and large wings that they tuck behind their backs when not flying. They move at an astonishing speed moving in a shuffling sideways motion. Gars communicate in grunts and often hiss with their head thrown back to scare their prey. Their breath is warm and their teeth are the size of human fingers.
Along with the blood flies, Gars use their keen senses to hunt for prey. After catching a meal, they smear the blood onto their chest and stomach thus rewarding their blood flies. Short-tailed Gars count their blood flies.
Known Gars: Gratch
Shadow People
Shadow People are basically as the name says shadows in the air. They have no solid form or precise shape and they are not even alive. They are beings created out of magic.
They are immune to human weapons, apart from the Sword of Truth, which sends their form spinning, before disappearing with a howl. It is impossible to hide from the Shadow People. Their touch is always deadly, no one is known to have ever survived it. Their touch causes the body to blister, swell up and finally split open.
During the war between Panis Rahl and the Midlands, Panis Rahl summoned them from the Underworld and used them for his purposes. They were known to float across fields and kill a whole battalion to a man. Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander found a way to stop the Shadow People by conjuring up Battle Horns that just swept them away like dust.
Another way to conjure up Shadow People is by removing a Night Stone from its leather pouch. Soon thereafter Shadow People would start appearing, gradually moving closer to the Night Stone.
Night Wisp
Night Wisps are creatures of magic that few have and ever will see. According to Kahlan, it is a rare opportunity to ever see one.
They are small creatures, about the size of a bottle, have tiny voices, green eyes and are only visible at night. They are able to float, hover and spin in the air. Night Wisps give off a tiny flair of light casting a warm, silvery glow on their surroundings. Extended periods of separation from their kind cause them to weaken and later die. As they weaken their light dims, but it turns to an intense pick when touched by a Confessor.
Known Night Wisps: Shar
Shar was a Nigh Wisp that sacrificed her own life by helping Kahlan cross the boundary in the hope of saving her kind from destruction at the hands of Darken Rahl. She tells Richard that Darken Rahl hunts him and Kahlan, and that if Darken Rahl is not stopped before the 1st Day of Winter, when the Sun is in the sky, they will be dead. She also tells him that he must seek the answers to his questions inside himself.
Her dying request is to be touched by Kahlan, so as to die filled with love instead of feeling pain and loneliness.
