WFR: Locations
WestlandWestland is one of the three lands in the New World. It is a land devoid of magic and separated from the Midlands by a magic boundary.
Richard Cypher later known as Richard Rahl was raised in Westland.
Upper Ven Forest
The Upper Ven Forest in close to the Boundary and therefore avoided by most from Westland. Here Richard finally finds a replica of the sprig of vine, he had three weeks earlier discovered in his deceased father's home.
The Upper Ven Forest is known to have trees such as maple, oaks, balsam firs, nannyberry trees, pines, spruces and white birches. Wild life consists of ravens, rabbits and other smaller animals.
Hawker's Trial runs through the Upper Ven Forest and is sometimes used by travellers and hunters.
Trunt Lake
Trunt Lake is a rather large lake at the bottom of a hillside within the Ven Forest. Hawker's Trial runs close to the edge Trunt Lake weaving in and out of trees. It is here that Richard first sees Kahlan as she makes her way along the path. After noticing the four men stalking the woman from a far, Richard decides to help her by taking her off of the main path towards Hartland.
Blunt Cliff
Blunt Cliff is a small and hard to spot cut-off path from Hawker's Trail. Richard takes Kahlan down this path, leading her away from the men.
The path takes it travellers to the south face of Blunt Cliff, where a traveller can get a panoramic view of the southern Ven Forest.
It is here that Kahlan and Richard overcome their first threat of many more to come together and an unbreakable friendship starts.
This is also where Kahlan first uses her Confessor powers.
Hartland
Hartland is the seat of power within Westland, Michael Cypher, the newly appointed First Councilor, lives here.
