Episode 18 - Walter Preview

wow, it looks yummy. can't wait for the fight Richard vs Darken Rahl.

Looks good. Supposedly this was going to be a filler or sorts, but it doesn't seem like one from my view. *shrugs*

I read all of his books and the series was the best story I've ever read. I think its amazing Terry Goodkind came up with all this in his head. I've tried to introduce the books to friends and family. Right now my wife is watching Season 2 on Netflix. She is totally ruining it for herself. The books are so much different! I always felt someone should make it into a series of movies like they did Lord of the Rings and others. I was excited when I first saw the title on a the preview guide but wasn't sure it was the same till I tuned in. It was awesome someone had done something with it. I wish I had written a script and shopped it around.
I have to be straight up, when I saw the show I was really disappointed. So much was taken out or re-written. I quit watching it after one episode. This was about a year ago. I have been in Hawaii for the last few weeks and have had free time so I watched the first and some of the second season. I think its great someone believed in it as much as I did. I know everything has to be shortened to fit TV and with more money in a budget, more could be done. But some of the acting is horrible. No offense to the one who plays Richard Rahl, but Richard was described as, "bigger than most men". I think he should have been casted differently. He is a mans man, bigger and better looking. He should have been a bit tougher looking and spoken more solidly and with less attitude. Richard was the strong silent type and thoughtful. He didn't talk this way. This guy who plays Richard sounds whiny or with a childish kind of attitude. The actor interpreted Richard badly. I wonder if he read the series why he sees Richard the way he does. I wonder how others who have read the book feel. My father loved the books and introduced me to them, he thought Richard was casted as this skinny ugly guy and he was shorter than Kahlan. He's right. The man casted for Zedd does a good job but I saw Zedd more as the wizard in Lord of the Rings, more serious, even though Zedd is goofy in the beginning and a few other times. The D'Haran soldiers should have been tall with blonde hair and blue eyes I thought. They also should have been much bigger and more muscular. Those soldiers were scary in the book. Especially the generals and officers. The first confrontation with the gar should have been done better. The stuff with the Mord Sith was only ok. I can go on forever but someone must know. Someone read the books right??
Season 2 was horrible. I'm sorry, but going off some new story with all kinds of stupid things happening and not using the second book storyline was a huge mistake. Who would decide something like that and how could Terry Goodkind allow it? Nicci was a huge character in the book and she was done terribly in the show. Zedds brother? He didn't have one. The Sisters of light and even Denna being written back in was so bad. Cure for the Banelings being sold and everybody coming back to life and dying more than once is nuts . Kahlan being split in two and having sex with some slave, Richard and Kahlan having sex before they actually did, Zedd being captured by Denna, Richard's brother was supposed to be evil, there was really no Confessors left, so much more is all screwed up. Nicci taking Richards Han?? Him not being a wizard and Zedd not being upset the Sisters took him? What the fck is going on???!! There is a reason why this ended up on the TV. It was written by a master storyteller, it found its way to the right people. Now some other writer is writing it??!! Thats a bad decision. I think whoever agreed to let someone else re-write the story should be taken off the project with that writer and anyone else that is slaughtering his story. That will be the ruin of the show. I won't watch the 2nd season because the new story is so bad. Almost anything not in the book should have been left out. Season 1 everyone liked and it was poorly casted and acted, but it stuck with the story a little bit better. Season 2 will be different. People know when sh*t becomes retarded. There is too much cheesiness in it. Too many things happen that are ridiculous, like Cara a baneling... armies of them and a new Seeker. The Palace of Light should have been developed so much more. You guys killed me with the 2nd season. I worked a little on CSI Miami and a few other things. I wish I could have worked on this and shared my interpretation only because the story deserves it. It really would have been better. The little jokes, etc, that people added in take away from the seriousness of every situation, and of the characters. Richard was a prisoner of the Sisters a lot longer and of Denna too, Im sorry, I could do this all night..........Im just extremely disappointed it wasn't done better and casted better. Kahlan is casted well, Cara too except for her hair with no braid. The crap with the Miswriths was a joke. Cara fell for a General. Can we press a rewind button, or a reset button and start again?? Put some more money into it maybe? Stick to the original. Does this bother you Terry Goodkind? I know you saw Richard different, right? Maybe if I was shorter or something but he's not Richard and Zedd is not Zedd. Im done. Forget it. One more thing, do any of these people who commented know the story? How can they be happy with it the way it is? If your going to do it, do it like the book.
