You can help Legend of the Seeker get a 3rd Season!!!
Major Updates
If you want to see a third season of Legend of the Seeker, then keep reading!
Mike Sussman, Writer/Co-Executive Producer of the show, has asked that we all write into our local Seeker showing stations and ABC/Disney to let them know that we want more of the show.
Why?
Syndicated shows, like LotS, are only on the air as long as stations are buying them so writing to your local (or not so local if you’re so inclined for all those outside of the USA) station and letting them know you love the show would really help. Follow this link to find a link to your local station: http://herblueeyes.com/2010/02/05/help-legend-of-the-seeker-get-a-3rd-season/.
Also, please be respectful and polite in your message, it really does make a difference. Running your message through spell check so it looks all nice and shiny couldn’t hurt either. Happy writing!
Don't know what to write? Then use a postcard! Speckles over on LiveJournal has created and collected a few postcards for people to use. http://community.livejournal.com/speckle_dots/20828.html (Thanks Alessia!)

For international viewers, Mike Sussman said:
International folks who want to help should write to whatever broadcaster/network/station airs LOTS in their local area. The international audience is a big chunk of our viewership so it’s important you be heard from. If you’re an international viewer, and you’ve already written to your local “Seeker” broadcaster, a second letter to ABC Studios would also be helpful.
If you’ve been thinking of buying the Season One DVDs or downloading the episodes from iTunes, now would be a VERY good time. Those sales numbers are looked at closely by studios.

Series 2 coming soon!
Don't worry, we know. Series 2 of Legend of the Seeker has already premiered in the US (lucky gits) but for us Brit's that's yet to happen.Series 2 will be premiering in February 2010 on the Sci Fi channel and for those of you who have purposely kept yourself out of the loop so as not to have anything spoiled for you, I have written a mostly spoiler free article on what to expect.
You can read the full article on the Sci Fi website.
While you've been getting stuck into your new years resolutions the second series of Legend of the Seeker has been well underway over in the US. I know, it's not fair, they get everything sooner - except for New Year's Day - we celebrated that first! Ha!
Thankfully we don't have to wait much longer as the second season premiers over here in February.
Anyway, the last time we saw Richard he was busy sending Darken Rahl to the underworld. That's a bit like hell, only not as hot. Air-con is a life, er, saver.
And ONE of the good things about watching a fantasy series is that just because your favourite character dies (you won't believe how many Darken Rahl fan's there are - my Legend of the Seeker fan site is full of them!) it doesn't mean they won't make an appearance - or two.

Discussing a Confessor's power
There's an article over at SciFi UK discussing the effectiveness of a Confessor's power, namely Kahlan's.
Is a Confessor's power really all that reliable?
I'm not ashamed to admit it, I watch the Jeremy Kyle show - someone has to. It was during a recent episode that I realised the lie detector test they use to 'catch out' guests works in the same way as a Confessor.
A lie detector test cannot tell if you're lying, only if you believe you are.
In Legend of the Seeker episode 11, Confession, Kahlan's power ends up committing an innocent man to death. How is that possible if a confessed person cannot lie? It plays on the weakness of belief. If you believe in something so entirely, it wouldn't be a lie to you, it'd be real.
A Confessor therefore, cannot tell if you're lying, they can only tell if you believe in what you're saying. In the end it comes down to perception. Perception is a very selfish ideal, very one minded. Yet it's only validated through the eyes of others. Think of it as interpretation.

SafeHaven was lucky enough to attend Dragon*Con 2009 and record several podcasts of the experience. Craig Parker (Darken Rahl) was on one of the panels during the event. They've posted their podcast online and now you candownload and listen to it.
This episode is one of our first in a two-part series of post Dragon*Con 2009 podcasts. Also sitting on this panel was one of the actors from the show, Craig Parker (Darken Rahl or you may remember him as Haldir from Lord of the Rings).

Richard Cypher was once but a simple woodsman, an expert tracker and explorer of the trails that run through and around his home town of Hartland, located in the province known as Westland. He was well liked by the townspeople, and looked up to his older brother, Michael, the First Councilor. Their father, George Cypher, raised the two boys after the death of his wife.
Life was an uneventful series of tasks and duties for Richard, until fate brought him together with a mysterious and captivating female, Kahlan Amnell. From a seemingly crazed old man, Zedd, the truth was soon revealed to Richard. He is a child of prophecy, the first true Seeker the world has known in a thousand years, destined to wield the powerful Sword of Truth and defeat the evil tyrant Darken Rahl.

Legend of the Seeker, series 2 CONFIRMED
We've known for some time, but it's been officially confirmed today that Legend of the Seeker is returning for a second season. Here's the press release for those of you who like ingesting every single detail (like us).
“LEGEND OF THE SEEKER” REVIVES THE EPIC FANTASY GENRE AND CAPTIVATES VIEWERS
Series Garners Second Season Renewal -- New Episodes Set To Premiere in Fall 2009
Burbank, CA. – July 6, 2009 – After a successful and thrilling first season run, the popular, epic action-adventure series “Legend of the Seeker,” starring Craig Horner, Bridget Regan and Bruce Spence, returns for a highly-anticipated second season this fall. Shot with the exotic and rugged New Zealand landscape as its backdrop, the weekly series will resume production on 22 all-new action-packed episodes this month. Combining elements of fantasy, adventure, magic, mystery and romance with state of the art visual effects and a high level of action, “Legend of the Seeker” is an adaptation of internationally best-selling author Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth book series.
When woodsman Richard Cypher’s (Craig Horner, “Monarch Cove” and “Blue Water High”) life gets turned upside down after discovering that he has a profound destiny to fulfill as the Seeker, he is thrust into an unfamiliar world of magic, sorcery and evil. With Kahlan (Bridget Regan, “Sex and the City” and “Six Degrees”) a woman with magical powers of her own, and a wise old wizard named Zedd (BRUCE SPENCE, “Mad Max 2” and “The Matrix Revolutions”) by his side, Richard fights to protect innocent lives by confronting dangerous and evil forces.
In the upcoming second season, Richard, Kahlan and Zedd will encounter an array of rich and compelling new characters, both good and evil, and they will be tested in ways that they never could have imagined. The trio will discover that in defeating the bloodthirsty tyrant Darken Rahl, their victory is short-lived as they inadvertently unleashed an even greater evil on the world. “New and even more ferocious villains will be introduced in the next chapter of Richard’s journey that will astonish viewers,” commented Executive Producer Ken Biller.
“Legend of the Seeker” is from the talented team behind the long-running, successful series “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” and “Xena: Warrior Princess,” and the studio that produces primetime network hits including “Lost,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Ghost Whisperer” and “Army Wives.” The series is produced by ABC Studios and distributed by Disney-ABC Domestic Television. Ken Biller, Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Ned Nalle and Josh Donen serve as executive producers. “Legend of the Seeker” is broadcast in more than 95 percent of the country, including all of the top 50 markets. The series airs Saturdays and Sundays in national syndication.
Things to note? Fimiling on series 2 starts this month - that gives us an estimated series 2 premiere date of: November? Why not release on November 1st and make it a birthday release? Let's all have cake.
