Discussing a Confessor's power
There's an article over at SciFi UK discussing the effectiveness of a Confessor's power, namely Kahlan's.
Is a Confessor's power really all that reliable?
I'm not ashamed to admit it, I watch the Jeremy Kyle show - someone has to. It was during a recent episode that I realised the lie detector test they use to 'catch out' guests works in the same way as a Confessor.
A lie detector test cannot tell if you're lying, only if you believe you are.
In Legend of the Seeker episode 11, Confession, Kahlan's power ends up committing an innocent man to death. How is that possible if a confessed person cannot lie? It plays on the weakness of belief. If you believe in something so entirely, it wouldn't be a lie to you, it'd be real.
A Confessor therefore, cannot tell if you're lying, they can only tell if you believe in what you're saying. In the end it comes down to perception. Perception is a very selfish ideal, very one minded. Yet it's only validated through the eyes of others. Think of it as interpretation.

Sci Fi UK interview with Bruce Spence
Sci Fi UK have posted up their third Seeker interview - this time with the great Bruce Spence.
After playing an assortment of weird and wonderful characters in fantasy and sci-fi over the years how does it feel to finally be playing the wise old mentor?
Well I guess I've served my apprenticeship. Zedd is certainly a grand character and I've been in scenes with Gandalf, Obi Wan Kenobi, and assorted characters so I'm prepared to take on the mantle of a mentor; a wizard character in this quite superb epic... Sci Fi UK Interview with Bridget Regan
Sci Fi UK have posted up their second Seeker interview - this time with the lovely Bridget Regan.
Your character is a very powerful heroine who can more than take care of herself. Do you find it liberating playing such a strong character?
Absolutely. I love Kahlan. When I signed on to do this show it was really without a script, they had just picked up the series of books to make a show, and I just fell in love with her, I thought she was so unique. I'd played strong women before but not ones that were so physically strong; she can tackle any man to the ground. Also she's got wisdom and strength. I just adore her... Have you always been a fan of fantasy or was the whole swords and sorcery world new to you?
I was a massive fan of fantasy. I had an older brother who was about thirteen years older than me and he brought me into the world of Conan and star Wars. He had all these movies lying around, he had comic books everywhere; he had lots of the original Star Wars figures. I was easily brought into that world of fantasy. There wasn't a day when I wasn't running around the back yard with swords and killing imaginary orcs... Click here to read the rest of the interview

Interview with Craig Horner
UGO recently interviewed Craig Horner. He discusses his exposure to the Sword of Truth world before he went for the role of Richard, and also talks about how fans of the books have taken to the show.Read below for an excerpt.
UGO: What kind of reaction have you had from fans of the books?
Craig: I’ve notice a 50/50 split but I think lately fans are starting to come around to the show. I, myself, had to make the adujustment when I got the script. We love the characters and we were given permission from Terry Goodkind to work with this world and really develop it. For example we had an episode that aired a few weeks ago called “Denna” and we had a really postive repsonse from the fans. We were true to the book - the costumes and everything and we do try to give the fans a few wink winks here and there... Read more?

We've added two new article interviews to our archive. Sci Fi.com have yet another interview with Rob Tapert, Sam Raimi, Bridget Regan and Craig Horner. View an excerpt of the interview below.Who's your audience for Legend of the Seeker?
Tapert: Who is our audience? Our audience is people who enjoy fantasy, and if you look at motion pictures, who went to see Lord of the Rings? Who went to see Spider-Man? Who went to see Iron Man? We're entertainment in a broad fashion. It has a heart and soul for people who want to be made to feel through what they watch on television. And it also provides a visceral thrill. It's got big action set pieces. So we're hoping that the audiences who once enjoyed Hercules and Xena, which, although not that same group of people, but that same demographic, would hopefully show up for this, along with people who have clearly demonstrated over the years that there's a huge marketplace in the theatrical world for hero-driven fantasy entertainment...More?
There is also an interview with Craig Horner from Newsarama.com.
“It’s really about the characters, the relationships, the love story, the politics, and all that,” he concludes. “When you are in another world that represents nothing of what you are used to in your own life, you can escape and start believing in these characters. Before you know it, you are invested in this world and buying it. The stakes become real. Okay, sure it’s the end of the world, but you get it because you are engaged by these characters.”... More?
We've also added two new video interviews to our Media section.
Hollywood 411 interviewed Craig Horner about the show and the books, how they are similar and about the direction the show is going in.
Better.tv interviwed Bridget Regan about her role as Kahlan Amnell, not much new stuff in terms show information, but Regan does talk about how she came to audition for the role of Kahlan Amnell. Both are worth a look.
And lastly, don't forget Bridget Regan is appearing on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show this evening in the US. Don't forget to check it out.
Ted Raimi as Sebastian, photo!
We've known for a while now that Ted Raimi would appear in Legend of the Seeker as Sebastian. Well now we have a photo of him in character. We must say, loving the waistcoat. Sebastian is a maker of magical maps; I wonder who needs help finding their way?
The image has been added to our gallery.
Watch episodes 1 and 2 with iTunes
If you've missed the Premier episodes of Legend of the Seeker and reside in the USA, you can now download the two episodes (for a price of course) from iTunes.I've received a lot of questions about whether or not the series will be available on iTunes, so I thought it best to post a news item about it.
I'm assuming iTunes will offer the entire series as the weeks go by, but at the moment there is only Episode 1, Prophecy and Episode 2, Destiny.
So what are you waiting for? Go purchase them now!
Sneak peak, Bounty episode 3

Available as a Free Download Exclusively on the iTunes Store
Burbank, CA – October 27, 2008 - Action-adventure fans can enjoy a first look of the highly-anticipated epic fantasy series “Legend of the Seeker” before its November 1st premiere weekend. Beginning today, Disney-ABC Domestic Television is offering an extended preview of the nationally-syndicated series as a free download, exclusively available on the iTunes Store (www.iTunes.com). The free download, entitled "Legend of the Seeker: A First Look," will give fans the opportunity to view the first 30-minutes of the upcoming two-hour television event executive-produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, the team that brought the characters of Hercules and Xena to life almost a decade ago.
"Fans have been clamoring to get a first look at the series and based on the early response from the clips released on the ‘Legend of the Seeker’ website, we knew this would be a huge success with audiences," noted Janice Marinelli, President, Disney-ABC Domestic Television.
Shot with the exotic and rugged New Zealand landscape as its backdrop, the one-hour scripted series is an adaptation of internationally best- selling author Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth book series. “Legend of the Seeker” explores the adventures of woodsman Richard Cypher (Craig Horner, “Monarch Cove” and “Blue Water High”), who discovers that he was born to fulfill a prophecy of becoming a guardian hero to oppressed people. With the help of a mysterious woman named Kahlan (Bridget Regan, “Sex and the City” and “Six Degrees”) and a wise old wizard named Zedd (Bruce Spence, “Mad Max 2” and “The Matrix Revolutions”), he must stop a ruthless and bloodthirsty tyrant named Darken Rahl (Craig Parker, “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” and “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers”) from unleashing an ancient evil and enslaving the world.
“Legend of the Seeker" is produced by ABC Studios, marking their first venture into broadcast syndication. Sam Raimi ("Spider-Man," "Spider- Man 2," "Spider-Man 3" and "The Evil Dead"), Rob Tapert ("The Grudge," "Xena: Warrior Princess," "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" and "Cleopatra 2525"), Joshua Donen ("The Quick and the Dead"), Ned Nalle (production executive for "Xena: Warrior Princess" and "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys") and Ken Biller (“Star Trek: Voyager” and “Six Degrees”) serve as executive producers.
“Legend of the Seeker” has been cleared by Disney-ABC Domestic Television in more than 95 percent of the country, including all of the top 50 markets. The series will premiere with a two-hour event the weekend of November 1st (www.LegendoftheSeeker.com for times and channels).
New Craig and Bridget interviews

We have added a few new videos to our media section today. The first one is an interview with both Craig Horner and Bridget Regan - in it, they discuss what it was like filming in New Zealand and what they think of the series.
The second is a very interesting video on the costume design of the show. Go behind the scenes and find out how the costumes were made and why they were created as such.
Lastly, there is another super interview with Craig Horner and Bridget Regan, which totals at just over six minutes long.
We've also re-ordered our Media section to cope with the expanding content.
New York Times article and new photo
New York Times have posted an in-depth and interesting article about the Legend of the Seeker. It also includes a new photo of Zedd, which is always a good thing.Mr. Raimi said he became a big fan of Mr. Goodkind’s books after a friend mentioned that his son was devouring them. In particular, he said, he was attracted to the evolution of the male lead.
“He’s a boy thrust into a position of adulthood where he has to immediately become a leader and a hero,” Mr. Raimi said in a phone interview. “That is very compelling to me, especially in the context of a really fun adventure story.”
Mr. Tapert also became hooked on the story — laid out in 11 books that have sold more than 25 million copies worldwide — and saw an opening in the syndication business that had not existed in nearly a decade. ... More?
Jay Laga'aia aka Chase interview
Jay Laga'aia aka Dell 'Chase' Brandstone tells us about his character, describing him as a big bear underneath but don't turn your back on him because he will kill you. We've added the video interview to our media section. I think he makes an incredible Chase and his interview only reinforces that.
Sci Fi interview, part two
Sci Fi.com have posted up the second part of their interview with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. They talk about working together and how much creative freedom they had when creating the television series.
As always, we've added the inteview to our article archive.
How free are you to diverge from the books--or book, since you're primarily adapting Wizard's First Rule--and maybe take those characters in another direction? Or are you planning on following them pretty closely?
Tapert: We've actually remained true to the characters, and what we've done is we've taken aspects of the book, storylines from the book, and blended those into episodes that differ from the book or run tangentially. ... We've had to, in the world of television, create events that were not portrayed in the book but still remained true to the characters, the theme and what's happening within the overarching story within the book.... More?
Sci Fi interview with producers
Sci Fi.com have posted an interview, part 1 of 2, with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. It's quite an interesting read. They discuss why they chose Bridget Regan to play Kahlan and what initially attracted them to create the television series.
We've archived the interview in our Article Archive section. You can read part 1 of 2 right here. Part 2 of 2 will be posted tomorrow.
Keeping with Kahlan, what was it about Bridget that drew you to her for the role?
Raimi: Rob was the one who found Bridget and showed her to me. He'll have to say how he originally discovered her, but when I saw her I just thought that she was ... I believed her. I believed the things that she said. Obviously, she's striking. She's quite beautiful to look at, but a lot of actresses are beautiful. But she made these fantastic situations and fantasy situations, ... she grounded them by being very human and real. And when she expressed emotion, I was moved by her, and I believed her, and I thought we couldn't ask for anything more. Because these are stories of friendship and loyalty and self-sacrifice. And if you don't really believe the people in the center of the characters--if you don't really believe that they're rooted and someone really exists in a three-dimensional way--then those stories won't have the weight. It won't work at all. So it was her, I guess, ability to just convey that she was a solid, soulful individual. That's what convinced me. But Rob, how did you come upon her? ... More?
Her Hope trailer now available
A new trailer entitled, Her Hope has been released. It features a few previously unseen pieces of footage, but a lot of it we've seen before. It's only 31 seconds long but it still makes us want to watch the series. Only 9 days to go.

Wow, do the Legend of the Seeker have a treat for you today or what? You can now watch the first ten minutes of episode one that features Kahlan, Dennee, the soliders and Richard. It looks amazing and if this is what the first ten minutes is like, then I'm excited about the rest.

A new trailer, entitled 'Hope' is now available to watch and features some new footage; all good stuff and leaves us feeling positive about the series.
A very short, thirty-nine second clip entitled 'Brings the action' that features various cast members, producers and directors.

It's a good day for fans. Enjoy.
Episode 7 named!
It has come to our attention that episode 7 shall be entitled, 'Identity'.What the 'identity' pertains to, is of much debate. It could be be several things and depending on how the writers have ordered the series, it could be the identity of Richard's parentage; Kahlan's status in the Midlands or some other unknown information we don't know of.
We've updated our episode guide to reflect the title of episode 7.
Watch cast interviews
Watch video interviews by Craig Horner and Bridget Regan who play Richard and Kahlan. LotS: Elements from later novels
Bill Keveney, a reporter for USA Today gives us an insight into the upcoming Legend of the Seeker television series.Spider-Man director Sam Raimi is taking on a different heroic tale as executive producer of Legend of the Seeker (Nov. 1, check local listings), based on the Sword of Truth novels by Terry Goodkind.
"It's an exciting story of heroes, and it's a love story. And it's got a lot of action," Raimi says.
In Seeker, Richard Cypher (Craig Horner) and Kahlan (Bridget Regan), aided by the wizard Zedd (Bruce Spence), are on a quest to stop tyrant Darken Rahl (Craig Parker) from releasing an ancient evil. The first season will track Wizard's First Rule but will include elements from later novels, says Rob Tapert, also an executive producer.
Raimi and Tapert produced Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.
The new series should appeal to families, as those earlier shows did, but "it's a little straighter in its tone, a little bit more serious of a drama," Raimi says. —Bill Keveney

So it's like we expected; based on the first novel, Wizard's First Rule but with parts of the other novels thrown in. It's all good!
UK release date?
According to a post on the Official Legend of the Seeker Facebook page, UK and overseas fans (excluding USA and Canada) won't be getting a Novemeber 1st release date.Quote: We found out the studio is actively working to get the show on the air in the UK and elsewhere overseas, but it will probably be a couple of months or so before it premieres there, just like in the US when we have to wait for “Doctor Who” episodes to show up on SciFi from the UK. Hopefully, there will be some more news in the next couple of weeks.
That's bad news for us Brits and non US fans. We'll keep you posted as soon as we hear anything else.
