Vote for your favourite fantasy costume!
Last week I helped the Sci Fi team decide on the final top ten fantasy costumes for their fantasy competition. The amount of effort and work that went into some of the costumes was quite simply amazing. But it doesn't matter what I think - only what YOU think. So head over to Sci Fi and vote for your favourite fantasy costume.
Thanks to everyone who took part in our Fantasy Costume Contest. We've had some exceptional entries; from bizarre and mind-blowlingly impressive to downright bonkers. But unfortunately not everyone can be winners.
On Tuesday our judging panel (made up of SCI FI Channel team members and Tracy Casebere from Legendoftheseeker.org) congregated in a closed room and thrashed out their top ten and now it's time to vote for the outright winner. All the below entries are winners, but who is number one? Only the entry with the most votes will win the £100 Forbidden Planet voucher, so don't delay, vote your fave costume now.
The poll closes on Friday 12th March. The winner will be announced thereafter.

Series 2 coming soon!
Don't worry, we know. Series 2 of Legend of the Seeker has already premiered in the US (lucky gits) but for us Brit's that's yet to happen.Series 2 will be premiering in February 2010 on the Sci Fi channel and for those of you who have purposely kept yourself out of the loop so as not to have anything spoiled for you, I have written a mostly spoiler free article on what to expect.
You can read the full article on the Sci Fi website.
While you've been getting stuck into your new years resolutions the second series of Legend of the Seeker has been well underway over in the US. I know, it's not fair, they get everything sooner - except for New Year's Day - we celebrated that first! Ha!
Thankfully we don't have to wait much longer as the second season premiers over here in February.
Anyway, the last time we saw Richard he was busy sending Darken Rahl to the underworld. That's a bit like hell, only not as hot. Air-con is a life, er, saver.
And ONE of the good things about watching a fantasy series is that just because your favourite character dies (you won't believe how many Darken Rahl fan's there are - my Legend of the Seeker fan site is full of them!) it doesn't mean they won't make an appearance - or two.

Discussing a Confessor's power
There's an article over at SciFi UK discussing the effectiveness of a Confessor's power, namely Kahlan's.
Is a Confessor's power really all that reliable?
I'm not ashamed to admit it, I watch the Jeremy Kyle show - someone has to. It was during a recent episode that I realised the lie detector test they use to 'catch out' guests works in the same way as a Confessor.
A lie detector test cannot tell if you're lying, only if you believe you are.
In Legend of the Seeker episode 11, Confession, Kahlan's power ends up committing an innocent man to death. How is that possible if a confessed person cannot lie? It plays on the weakness of belief. If you believe in something so entirely, it wouldn't be a lie to you, it'd be real.
A Confessor therefore, cannot tell if you're lying, they can only tell if you believe in what you're saying. In the end it comes down to perception. Perception is a very selfish ideal, very one minded. Yet it's only validated through the eyes of others. Think of it as interpretation.

Sci Fi UK interview with Bruce Spence
Sci Fi UK have posted up their third Seeker interview - this time with the great Bruce Spence.
After playing an assortment of weird and wonderful characters in fantasy and sci-fi over the years how does it feel to finally be playing the wise old mentor?
Well I guess I've served my apprenticeship. Zedd is certainly a grand character and I've been in scenes with Gandalf, Obi Wan Kenobi, and assorted characters so I'm prepared to take on the mantle of a mentor; a wizard character in this quite superb epic... Sci Fi UK Interview with Bridget Regan
Sci Fi UK have posted up their second Seeker interview - this time with the lovely Bridget Regan.
Your character is a very powerful heroine who can more than take care of herself. Do you find it liberating playing such a strong character?
Absolutely. I love Kahlan. When I signed on to do this show it was really without a script, they had just picked up the series of books to make a show, and I just fell in love with her, I thought she was so unique. I'd played strong women before but not ones that were so physically strong; she can tackle any man to the ground. Also she's got wisdom and strength. I just adore her... Sci Fi UK Interview with Craig Horner
In case you didn't already know, Legend of the Seeker is coming to the UK on the Sci Fi channel this Thursday August 13th. In the build up to the premiere, Sci Fi UK caught up with the cast and asked just what we should expect from the show.Today's interview features Craig Horner, who at the time of the interview was in New Zealand filiming series 2 of the show.
Have you always been a fan of fantasy or was the whole swords and sorcery world new to you?
I was a massive fan of fantasy. I had an older brother who was about thirteen years older than me and he brought me into the world of Conan and star Wars. He had all these movies lying around, he had comic books everywhere; he had lots of the original Star Wars figures. I was easily brought into that world of fantasy. There wasn't a day when I wasn't running around the back yard with swords and killing imaginary orcs... Click here to read the rest of the interview

UK release date?
According to a post on the Official Legend of the Seeker Facebook page, UK and overseas fans (excluding USA and Canada) won't be getting a Novemeber 1st release date.Quote: We found out the studio is actively working to get the show on the air in the UK and elsewhere overseas, but it will probably be a couple of months or so before it premieres there, just like in the US when we have to wait for “Doctor Who” episodes to show up on SciFi from the UK. Hopefully, there will be some more news in the next couple of weeks.
That's bad news for us Brits and non US fans. We'll keep you posted as soon as we hear anything else.
